XFINITY WiFi is a network of hotspots that allows you to connect at the fastest WiFi speeds around town while conserving usage on your cellular data plan.
When in range of a hotspot, it can be found within the list of available networks on your device. XFINITY WiFi hotspots are identified by two SSIDs (network names) – “xfinitywifi” or “CableWiFi.”
There are two easy ways to find a WiFi hotspot:
XFINITY Internet and Comcast Business Internet customers with a qualifying tier of service* can enjoy XFINITY WiFi access at no additional cost.
If you are a new subscriber, you can begin using XFINITY WiFi right away, even before your XFINITY Internet service has been installed at home.
If you’re not yet an XFINITY Internet customer, you can access WiFi service two ways:

Comcast Business Internet customers:
When you initially connect to “xfinitywifi,” a sign-in page will appear. If a sign-in page does not appear automatically, open your browser and navigate to a website such as www.xfinity.com. The sign-in page will now appear.
Comcast is committed to making your WiFi experience as fast, fun and safe as possible. Whenever you sign in, we help protect your privacy and the safety of your Comcast Email or username and password by providing 128-bit encryption on the sign-in page. This is the same standard used by thousands of online banking and financial services sites around the world to protect your critical transactions.
However, for the most secure online experience possible, be safe and smart.
This notification lets you know your device is successfully connected to the XFINITY WiFi network. By connecting to XFINITY WiFi, you are able to conserve usage on your wireless data plans and enjoy the fastest hotspots in the nation. As a customer, once you've connected to an XFINITY WiFi hotspot for the first time, many WiFi enabled devices will automatically re-connect to known hotspots. If your device is registered to automatically sign-in to XFINITY WiFi, this notification reminds you that you are connected to a network you know and trust.
CableWiFi is an extension of the XFINITY WiFi service offered by Comcast, giving you access to even more hotspots on the go as you travel around the country.
When you are in a CableWiFi hotspot location (view coverage on wifi.comcast.com), XFINITY Internet customers can access the hotspot at no additional charge.
Check to make sure you are in range of an XFINITY WiFi hotspot. If “xfinitywifi” is not in the list of available networks, then there is likely not a hotspot in your immediate location.
If the “xfinitywifi” network name is in the available network list and you still can't connect, check your WiFi-enabled device to see how many signal bars are present. If there are only one or two bars, you may need to move closer to the center of the signal – moving closer to the center of the hotspot will increase the quality of the connection.
If you still cannot get online and your Comcast Email or username and password are correct, it is possible that we are having a service issue. Please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-800-XFINITY and select the High Speed Internet service option.
On certain devices the Web browser may serve a default start page, such as google.com, from the cache on your device instead of from the Web. Please try refreshing your browser page, or try going to a new website, and you should get redirected to the XFINITY WiFi Sign In page.
If the problem persists please check your device’s DNS settings are set to obtain the DNS server address automatically (typically found where your network or WiFi connections are located).
Devices can be registered by the primary account holder. Four devices are eligible to be registered for XFINITY WiFi access at one time. This may vary based on your tier of service. The primary account holder can manage devices by selecting the My Services tab, selecting XFINITY Internet within My Account or by clicking here. If the maximum device limit has been reached, the primary account holders may be asked to remove devices from their account to allow additional devices XFINITY WiFi access.

For Android, any device running Android 2.2 or above.
Because there are so many XFINITY WiFi hotspots, searches are performed using a 10-mile radius from the center of the search term. Try including a city name or ZIP code for better results. You can also use the "Near Me" feature in the app to locate XFINITY WiFi hotspots near you.
Yes, as long as you have less than 5,000 results loaded, you are able to refine your results by selecting the refine button icon found to the right of the top bar. You can then refine your search by site type, category or by entering a keyword.
You can modify your device’s location permissions by adjusting your general device settings. Follow these steps:
Please note, if you have enabled location services and are still experiencing this issue, your device may not currently be able to identify your location (e.g., if you are on an iPod touch with no GPS functionality, and WiFi is disabled, the device will not be able to determine your location).
First, please make sure you have installed the latest version of the app.
If you are still having trouble, please contact our customer care team via chat.
In order to improve your experience with the app, we collect some anonymous information about how you use it such as page views, search locations and general app usage. No personal or location information is stored. Understanding what customers do on our networks helps us ensure that the network is operating properly. Privacy of usage data is our priority (refer to our Privacy statement on http://www.comcast.com/wifi/wifiapp_privacy).
If you prefer that we don’t collect this information from you, it is possible to disable the feature within the Settings menu.
If you have installed an offline dataset, you will be able to make searches without an Internet connection.
To install an offline dataset, simply visit the Settings menu and select the Manage Offline Datasets option. From here you can select which datasets you would like to install. Please note that any locations outside of the area that you have datasets installed for will not be searchable when your device is offline.

As with any shared medium, there can be some impact as more devices share the network.
For data usage, the activities of visiting users are associated with the visitors’ accounts and therefore do not impact the homeowner.
